Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Wagga Wagga

Another successful grant from Future2 Foundation!

In 2018, Future2 Foundation awarded over $180,000 in grants to community not-for-profit organisations with programs for socially and financially disadvantaged young Australians. There are 19 charity organisations across Australia who received grants, each endorsed by a local Financial Planning Association (FPA) member. Not only can we congratulate, Richard Addison, on his success in receiving a grant for the CHANCES Scholarship Program but Tom Harris was also successful in receiving a $10,000 grant for Riding for the Disabled Association.

Applications to receive grant funding are invited from organisations that have programs to address the needs of disadvantaged young Australians in drought affected areas through:

  • Education, including skills training and leadership development
  • Engagement, including mentoring and juvenile justice programs
  • Employment, including work experience and job readiness training
  • Wellbeing, including remedial programs for drug and alcohol dependence
  • Independent living and social inclusion.

Riding for the Disabled (RDA)

“RDA is an international organisation that provides horse related activities to people with disabilities, in order to enhance and develop their abilities. The Wagga Centre is affiliated with Riding for the Disabled (NSW) Association, and is a Registered Training Organisation.

Our centre welcomes anyone with any form of disability to be a part of what we do. We offer riding lessons, carriage driving, EFMA (Equine Facilitated Mental Health) programs.

Our centre is run by a dedicated staff, and a large group of volunteers, led by a committee of enthusiastic people committed to providing quality services to people with disabilities. RDA Wagga currently has 18 horses, operating 6 days a week. Our goals are to provide a safe and supportive program where all clients, regardless of their disabilities and backgrounds can attend and gain some valuable life skills. RDA works in partnership with clients, parents, carers and schools to ensure we meet the individual needs of all. RDA Wagga  provides services to approximately 140 clients a week. The clients or beneficiaries range from both physically and mentally disabled, accident victims, sufferers of abuse and other conditions such as autism. The majority of people using our services are under the age of 25.
